Formerly a dyeing house, this house was built by the famous dyer Abraham Hass. The latter handed it over to his son. The canals, like the wooden irrigation system and the tanks found in the floors of the house, are proof of the building's authenticity. Many owners have followed one another; the house belonged among others to Messrs Müller and Wysard, then to the spokesperson Philippe Ritter who then sold it to the brewer Emil Hediger. Later, it was in the possession of the Weyeneth family.

In 1984, it was Mr. Jean Meyer who acquired the building and made it the welcoming restaurant that it is today. You should know that in time, the Egge bore the name of Rosius and was rather known as a 'cave of thieves' with nicknames such as "bluetige Dume", "Witzwilerbahnhof" or "Schirmflicker-Casino". When it was acquired in 1984, the house on street Rosius was renovated and sanitized with the aim of removing old customers and getting rid of these unwanted nicknames. Jean changed the name of the building, and the story of the Egge could begin.

In 2021, Florence Montavon, an employee of Egge for 30 years, and her son Jérémy become the new bosses of the place. They are committed to maintaining the warm and family atmosphere of the restaurant, while bringing their own personal touch.
